Beetletune Guitars is located in the town of Spearfish, South Dakota and is the sole proprietorship of Richard Rutherford. Situated at the northern edge of the historic and beautiful Black Hills, this geographic location provided part of the motivation for Richard to build guitars from recycled cigar boxes with reclaimed red oak and wood harvested from Ponderosa Pine trees previously infected by the pine beetle. This beautiful wood with tones of red, grey and yellow create a unique solid body for an electric guitar.
Each guitar is conceived and built by Richard with emphasis on beauty as well as tone and playability. Guitars produced include acoustic 1 or 2-string diddley bow, 3 or 4-string acoustic/electric, 6-string acoustic/electric and electric with humbucker pick up. Each unit is individually handcrafted to perfection and will add beauty and unique sound to your collection.
Guitars are available in select Deadwood and Sturgis retail stores, and custom orders are available and can be personalized with photos, logos or other printed graphics. With limitations, physical items can also be built into the instrument.
Suggested retail range for the guitars is $180 to $400. Final price is subject to discounts which may be available from individual sellers.
